L'il Janiel's Harvest Smack card

Hi everyone, hope you're all having a super Friday! I almost missed today's post for the Digibells, been so busy this week I completely forgot so I have just had to colour, make and post this card all in the space of an hour - with no scissors and only basic craft tools haha!! Pure testament to how gorgeous Lissy Bee's designs are and how you can make something lovely from nothing if you have one of her uber fabulous images I think! I chose L'il Janiel's Harvest for this card, one of my favourite images I think...

As I've been colouring for like aeons this week with my trusty Promarkers and Flexes, I decided to give my Copics a little outing for a change. It's amazing how different pens can feel even when they're all the same alcohol base, it's all in the delivery system and the flow of the ink. For me, I find Copics to be very very dry in comparison to Promarker, Flex and Kurecolors too and there's no getting away from the fact that Copic do have the ultimate range of colours - 400! 400! Wowser! Personally I think it's good for everyone to have a mix of different mediums - some days I find I prefer one over the other, it really depends what mood I'm in, what my ability is on that day (ie if I'm in spacker can't make a nice thing if I tried mode or creative everything I touch I love mode) and also what the weather is like! Yes, folks, the temperature sure can affect your pens! No idea if this is scientific fact or not but I am living proof - if it's hot I find those little beggars can just mis-perform for me sometimes!
Please don't ask me what colours I used on this image - I have no bloody idea, I just grabbed them and put it down as I had to colour this in about 15 minutes flat I think. I'm still mid-pack for the new studio (well, I say mid, more like I just 1/4 filled ONE box so far) and so I havent unpacked the car from this weeks TV shows yet. So of course I realised with horror I did not posess one single pair of scissors or a knife about my personage and had to do some rip-tearing away. Luckily I had papers sat half chopped as offcuts from a demo I prepped for the shows so I snaffled it and just tore into rough strips and then threw some paper flowers at it. Even this was tricky as I also only had a smidge of pinflair left in the bottom of a tube which I had to bite to get the last trickle out of to stick the flowers on haha! These have big stem bits at the back so it was a bit of a pain getting them stuck on enough for me to stand the card up to take a pic! I pulled out some fab new pom pom ribbons in lush colours that were perfick and then realised I couldnt cut those either - ARGHH! I pushed some mess...er I mean work in progress aside and luckily found a white ribbon hiding on the desk so smack - chucked it on and may Smack Card is finito!!! haha!

This is my last post as Guest Designer for the completely fabulous and super talented Digibells design team, so thanks to everyone for their kindness and wonderful comeraderie over the past 12 weeks - if you'd like to be on the Digibells design team for a guest spot make sure you get your entry in for the DT call - see the post  here!  I should have some exciting news soon so I'll be back soon! xx

25 Apr - E Bells World Mthly Spring Is In The Air - Lots of flowers and springtime colors

Hi everyone! Well as this post goes out I'm on TV with lots more Letraset shows, so I hope you're managing to catch them all! I will be all "coloured" out by the end of today, believe it or not there is a point where you can colour with an alcohol pen no longer and I have to say when I have a heavy schedule of shows it's a point I reach very often LOL!!! But hopefully not before I've shown you some hints and tips and some new bits and pieces (although that too gets more and more difficult after showing you on TV for 18months LOL! I am drained and void of any more colour inspiration hahaha! Ok, well that is until 7th May ; )   )...

Anyway, enough of me, today's post is all about our lovely Lissy Bee over at the Elisabeth Bells World challenge blog! If you've never popped over, this is a monthly challenge with an awesome Design Team and this will be my last ever post for them as a guest...boohoooo!...
This Month's theme is all about Spring Flowers and this is what I came up with...
Now, it could be said this is not too Springy or Flowery but hey, I like to live on the edge! The papers I used here are from my Wonderland CD - totes yummo distressed gorgeousness in a little DVD case...I totally *heart* these papers, I really need to use them more, they have so much texture going on.  I used the lovely Patti's Kisses digi stamp on this card and decided to make her hair red for a change. I made a double flap on the card and then just added a few bits of frippery to bring it all together. I was in a bit of a rush with this one and luckily I had some little white flowers hanging around which I'd made last year with my Martha Stewart snowflake punches.
So if you haven't checked out the blog yet make sure you get on over there as you could be invited as a Guest Designer for next month!

Quick update!

Just to let you all know that I will be on Create and Craft and Ideal World TV over the next 2 days, these are the times and shows...

Tues 24th Apr...2pm...Dawn Bibby and Friends...this show features Stampendous for the first time ever on Create and Craft, I'm so excited to be working with Dawn and the lovely Fran who's flown in from the US! Woohoo, 2 stars of the crafting world and then little ol'me hanging on like a limpet with no friends LOL!!! haha : ) I shall bathe in their creative goddessness and try to steal stamps whilst Fran isn't looking....ssshhh!!!

And then I shall be back at 7pm on C&C with Dawn again - these are both Polkadoodles shows.
Then if you've not had enough of me by now,  hop on over to Ideal World at 10pm and then the witching hour, a midnight show! Please email your matchsticks in as I'll have been up since 6.30am by this point!

I'm not totally sure on Wednesday's hours but I think it's 11am on Ideal World, 1pm on C&C, 6pm Ideal World and 7pm C&C and I'm sure they will hold me down and batter me with a pokey tool until I agree to do some additional ones along the way too. All these hours are Letraset hours so tune in for all your colouring and I will try and make it interesting and not like watching...well, let's face it, alcohol markers dry!
ttfn!! xx

20 Apr - Blog Hop and Candy!

Hi everyone! Today we have a great blog hop over at the Digibells! This time our theme is Spring Flowers and to coincide with the hop our lovely Lissy Bee has designed 2 fabulous new Digi's - and you can win these if you take part in the hop!  If you reached my blog from Renkata then you're in the right place and carry on reading to find out what you need to do and how to win my free blog candy too!

To win the digi you will need to hop through all our team and leave a comment on each blog to improve your chances of winning.
2 random winners will be chosen from all the comments and you have until Fri 4th May at 9am (Arizona time) to do your bit. We'll be posting the winners on 5th May. Woohoo!
Also, you have a 2nd way to win too!...just make a card following our Spring Flowers theme challenge and post it on the Digibells blog! Our only rule is that you need to use an Elisabeth Bell image - if you want to join in and don't have one get yourself over to Lissy Bee's digi store now! The challenge will also end 4th May and be announced on the 5th.  So good luck everyone, get hopping and carry on reading to see where you need to go next!

So I wanted to share my creation for the hop...
this time Elisabeth has created this adorable image which was themed for Easter but can be used all year round, we all love bunnies I think. As soon as I saw her I knew I wanted to use her on the end of a card and cut around her as the outline is pretty simple to cut...
I've coloured her with some awesome new alcohol markers which I'm roadtesting...all I can say is that I am in LOOOOVE with these pens and if you're an alcohol pen user you need to watch out for them! I'll tell you more as soon as I can! Look at how soft the blending is - on each section of this image I only used 3 colours! 3 for face (can you believe that!), pinny and her little pantaloons! (5 for the hair)...AND there are only 2 on those sleeves! They are like velvet to work with, superbo!...
The flowers I made using vellum and added a few bits and pieces, the backing papers are from issue 2 of Pen & Paper Circle and if you didn't know we now have a magazine at Polkadoodles issue 3 has just been released so check it out! I love this card, a little different to have her sitting at the left hand side too for a change...you can grab the digi here on Lissy Bee's site...

Right, if you're here for the hop you now need to get on over to Penni and see what she has in store, but before you do leave me a comment and I will pick someone to win my own blog candy too as this is my last hop for the Digibells team as my term is up with them at the end of April.

I'm moving into my own studio at the moment (boo hoo no more working from home with the ninja's for company, man I'm gonna miss them each day!) so I'm having a bit of a clearout and I will put together a stash of candy worth £30 (approx $50 ish?) for someone who leaves me a comment. The stash will include a copy of my new Sugarplum Daisy CD which is sooo sweet, together with some yummy ribbons and an Elisabeth Bell stamp from Belles n Whistles, so get commenting! I'm mega busy over the next few weeks with LOADS of Create & Craft TV shows so I will leave it open until 9th May and I will announce the winner on the 10th May!

In the meantime you can catch me on Create & Craft on 24th & 25th April and then on 7th May for a few days - woohoooo, busy busy girl I am! If you're one of my followers from afar and are wondering what C&C is all about, it's our dedicated Crafty TV shopping channel here in the UK - 24 hrs of craft 7 days a week with some fab guests, products and demo's! Live hours are from 8am - 8pm and it's on Sky 671 here. If you can't see it on TV you can watch live online and also on TV catchup.

18 Apr - Digibells

Hi - it's my turn to host at the Digibells today!
My card today is using " I love you this Much" from Elisabeth's digi gallery.
Apologies for the slightly blurry piccie, think my autofocus is playing up a  bit on the ol'camera. I love this image and how she's standing on her tippytoes! For ages I've wanted to make her stand in water - so here she is dipping her toes in the stream, trying not to tipple over!

I've used markers on this image and they are brand, brand new...I don't think I can reveal what they are yet as I'm not sure they've even been released as I post this, but I will say they are from Kuretake and having been playing with them all last weekend I have been making lots of "oohs" and "aah" noises - all I will say is you need to watch out for them, I know they are going to be released very soon! My card was finished off with some pritty ribbons and a butterfly from Marianne Design, it's one of my favourites!
See you next time! x

Busy Bunnies

Hello everyone - Happy Easter! Hope you're all having a relaxing weekend with mucho chocolat and eggy fun! I'm writing this post with a headache so not much choccie for me this weekend and I am busy prepping for the Paper Clinic shows on Create & Craft TV on Monday (11-1pm). Contrary to popular belief, the questions for the clinic are NOT invented just to sell you stuff and these shows actually take quite a lot of putting together for the team at C&C, it genuinely takes several weeks to get everything together for it. The questions are pulled together from emails received during shows where people ask specific questions and then the buyers try and put together a show featuring those products so we can make it informative and interesting.  This is my first Paper Clinic show I have to say, and knowing the questions and products we're showing I'm really looking forward to it! It always intrigues me how we all get in a total comfort zone where we're happy doing our own little thing in craft and I love it when I get pushed out of mine into using other products I wouldn't normally, quite frankly, touch with a barge pole! Not because I don't like those products, but probably because, just like everyone else, I've bought them all before and then never been inspired enough to use them so they sit in the bottom of a box of stuff you never use with the lid covered in an inch of dust. Very often these are basic things we all have had and maybe even thrown out because they're stuck on the shelf gathering dust! I think that might be the case with some of what I have on this show (judging by my own shelves) and I've had a great day of faffing about tinkering...stuff I know how to use but don't...but I have really enjoyed myself today and I think some of you might be wow'ed by what I'm going to show you.  See, we all need to be pushed sometimes and trying stuff you haven't done before or going back to basics can be a really good move sometimes.  Trends and techniques move on all the time so sometimes that thing you thought had been done to death and you were bored with 3 years ago may get a new lease of life when you look at it this time round from a new angle. I think we forget how much we all  move on very quickly in our quest for the latest, newest technique or gadget and we leave some of the great older ones behind along the way. Anyway, I hope you tune in cos I am totally addicted to what I've been doing today in a big way and I think it might become a bit of a little craze!
....simple things are always the best...

Anyhoo, I totally forgot to share my creations for Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine this month and it's been out a couple of weeks already. I now have a monthly article which is tutorial based in this title with an emphasis on colouring techniques and trying to inspire you with some different ideas...it's getting harder and harder as the months are going on I have to say, though!

This month I show you some softer techniques and I love these projects so if you haven't snapped up a mag yet then grab one, in my opinion SCP is the best craft mag out there and there's some cool giveaways this month too...and obviously my How To on how to get the two great looks above...these images are from our Candy Doodles collection which j'adore...such a storybook feel to the updated Collectors Edition (I forgot how much yummy stuff is on this CD!). If you're a stamper and scared of CD's watch out as I will be doing a little tutorial to show you how EASY PEASY it is to use one of our CD's and how they are just like stamps!
(by the way did you spy that new Marianne Design Anja die on that sample - oh my word!! TO DIE FOR! so many possibilities with it, I just havent had proper time to play with it yet!)

Right, I must go-go-go, need to finish my prep and have a busy week ahead moving into my new Studio/Office...I need a name for it, it's next door to our main warehouse/office but will be my new Creative Space where I work and Craft from rather than being home-based. It will be very weird going off to work every day again after 3 years being at home with the ninja's and I think I'll miss the little furry fellas but I am craving getting a proper space and being able to claim my bedroom back from the complete chaos that is a work/design/craft room!  So with that in mind, I want you all to come up with some cool names for my new creative room that I can call it and my favourite one will receive some CANDY - woohooooo!! It will be a mix of candy including Polkadoodles and also some yumminess that I find amongst my stash when I move so it'll be a good one! Get your thinking caps on and leave me your suggestions in the comments!

I will leave you with a beautiful quote my gorgeous friend Josie told me recently...
"The whole difference between construction and creation is this: that a thing contructed can only be loved after  it is made; but a thing created is loved before it exists." (Charles Dickens).
What a clever chap he was.
And Josie made my heart warm when she said that I do the latter when I design because we were talking about how I always have a little story in my head for everything I draw, I call it my little land of fun and happiness. I love her for that, such a kind thing to say and made me feel very humble indeed, just hope she reads this and realises how inspiring SHE was to me that day, love ya J, you little tinker xx
